‘Triumphant … brilliantly unites two works that are masterpieces in their own right’
– Guardian
Woyzeck in Winter
is an electrifying fusion of two masterpieces: Büchner’s Wozyeck and Schubert’s Die Winterreise.
Woyzeck and Die Winterreise were written within ten years of each other – the twenty-four songs of Die Winterreise in 1827, the twenty-six scenes of the play in 1836 – by troubled geniuses, both of whom died young. Thrillingly re-imagined by Conall Morrison and a leading creative team, this daring new production is sung in English.
Starring Patrick O’Kane as Woyzeck and Camille O’Sullivan as Marie, Woyzeck in Winter had its world premiere, in a co-production between Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival, in July 2017. Co-commissioned by the Barbican in London, the stellar Irish cast also includes Stephen Brennan, Peter Coonan, Susannah De Wrixon, Rosaleen Linehan, Barry McGovern, Rory Nolan and Shane O’Reilly.
